A "Harvard Professor" tells us to worry about RF from smart meters

He's baaack. Remember the celebrated video blogger Chris Thompson whose YouTube video basically told us we were nuts to kill the HST? Well, that didn't work out so well despite the fact it was viewed over 100,000 times, but that hasn't stopped him from creating another brilliant production on B.C.'s latest mass hysteria over smart meters.

His video is called Smart Meters Are Not a Killer Fascist Conspiracy, and Thompson's humorous poke at the lack of logic (driven by conspiracy theorists who fear a New World Order is coming soon) behind the Stop Smart Meters movement.

The effort to halt smart meters was driven by union opponents and B.C.'s NDP party who are looking for yet another issue to undermine the governing BC Liberals. The conspiracy theorists and tin hat crowd only add to the playground that politics in our province seems to be sometimes. While it's a drag that meter reader jobs are on their way out because of the adoption of new, more efficient technology, this has been a fact of life since, oh, about the end of the 18th Century. British Columbians should not feel obliged to keep paying workers just because a union doesn't want them replaced by a wireless transmitter.

Good for Thompson for leading the charge despite the inevitable attacks on his own motives and reputation. Hopefully our province will continue to be a place that embraces innovative technology that saves consumers costs over the long term.

I am not schooled on the political parties in Canada, but many US liberal progressive democrats (who happen to support unions) are opposed to “smart” meters.
There are troubling studies which show health effects from non ionizing electromagnetic radiation. These include animal studies which show double strand DNA breakage and weakening of the blood brain barrier (which makes it easier for toxins to enter.)
Chris’ video is funny but it has inaccuracies, and I encourage people to do more research. Health issues apply to people from all political parties.

I am not a conspiracy theorist.

I do science and statistical research. I read over 400 peer reviewed articles (1/2 industry, 1/2 independent) and I visited the laboratory scientists where non-ionizing radiation is tested.

The laboratory scientists observe (1) Cell Damage, (2) DNA Chain breaks and (3) Breaches in the Blood-brain barrier from the non-ionizing radiation at considerably lower levels than emitted by smart meters.

That alone is sufficient evidence for reasonable people to prohibit smart meters from being attached to their homes.

What is still unknown is the extent of the health degradation and the onset date of named illnesses that each person exposed will suffer. Because the extent of health degradation is unknown from lightly painting 100 bicyclists with acid and sending them into freeway traffic, is not a reason to do such a thing. No one will be better off, all will be harmed to some degree and some will suffer more than others.

Some people aren’t concerned with the smart meter radiation because they can’t see it and others assume the radiation is trivial because the sun’s radiation is so much stronger.

The sun gives life to animals and plants on Earth and it provides Vitamin D for the body. If we raise the radiation level of a smart meter up to that of the sun, a smart meter will NOT give life nor any vitamins.

PG$E, the Northern California Utility Company, recently admitted to 10′s of thousands of radiation transmissions, up to 190,000 per day for each smart meter.

There are already sophisticated theories and outright guesses WHY the short persistent pulsed radiation bursts from smart meters do such damage, but regardless of Why, it is best to avoid such radiation, particularly the cumulative radiation that is its nature when mounted on a home.

Hi, it’s Chris Thompson here – the Stop Smart Meters people took issue with my critique, and had Youtube take the video down, citing “privacy” concerns. I’ve posted a modified version at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cW6aAPKEoIE. Could you please update?

    Thanks,

    Chris

Done. Thanks for the update, Chris.

    RobertWilliams –

Does your concern extend to the soup of cell phone transmissions, radio waves and wifi networks we all live in now? Have you discovered something inherently different about smart meter transmissions?

It seems to be that if your concerns are true that the meters would be the least of our worries.
